2010 Action Adventure Movies Top! Your Thanksgiving free movie list is two movies long, but what movies! Unlike Halloween (that I offered a list of 100 free scary movies here), Thanksgiving requires a different twist. Neither of these is specific to Thanksgiving, but they relate to some themes with the holiday. Frankly, I can enjoy these free movies for Thanksgiving and any day from the year.

Big oil company propaganda which has a heart! Just the free movie we require for Thanksgiving! This 78-minute semi-documentary from 1948 is one with the most lyrical American films available. In 1994, The Louisiana Story was selected for preservation inside the United States National Film Registry from the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." It is the story of your Cajun boy and the family, living for the bayous in a way of life we can barely imagine.
The boy's family rents land to the oil company, which comes in, drills, and instead gives off everything just like it was, clean and unspoiled with the exception that the family has a little more money. (Yes, it turned out funded with the Standard Oil Company.)
The boy spends nearly all of his time on his narrow boat (pirogue), floating along the bayous, prime snake and alligator habitat, regarding his pet raccoon. He never wears a life preserver or shoes... doesn't actually have a cell phone to contact case he gets having problems. There is not much story, simply a celebration (in these stunning monochrome photography that you could well wonder what are the big deal is about color) of the way of life which is no longer around.
All with the actors were amateurs, as well as most, it was their only film. As of April 2007, J.C. Boudreaux, who literally boy, was surviving in a FEMA trailer along with his wife of fifty-five years, after Hurricane Rita destroyed their property. (source). A black and white silent film that ends which has a woman being burned alive? Oh, yes, exactly what every family needs at Thanksgiving. But, I have three good reasons for including The Passion of Joan of Arc within this pair of free movies for Thanksgiving.
First, I am thankful that The Passion of Joan of Arc was available. Second, I am thankful that The Passion of Joan of Arc was preserved. The director Carl Theodor Dreyer (more) died believing that the last copy have been destroyed. In a bit of weirdness that sounds similar to a movie compared to the truth, a nearly complete print was discovered in 1981 inside a janitor's closet of your Norwegian mental institution.
Finally, I am grateful that people can watch this magnificent film, on many lists of the greatest films of all time, free of charge online at Gloria.tv, a Roman Catholic video site.
Maria Falconetti (more), who plays Joan, suffered an emotional breakdown during the making on this film, and he or she never made another film. Pauline Kael (more), a notoriously demanding film critic, said that Falconetti's performance "may function as the finest performance ever documented on film."
